A Conversation with Dr. David Taylor on Prayers for the Pilgrimage

April 30 @ 7:00 pm

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 7:00 pm (CT) , professor, theologian, and priest, Dr. David Taylor will be on campus at Fuller Texas to celebrate his most recent book, Prayers for the Pilgrimage: A Book of Collects for All of Life.

His book includes a wide range of prayers:
For “Those Who Weary of Doing Justice” and “Being Childlike in God’s Kingdom”
For “Juneteenth” and “A Mid-Life Crisis”
For “Those Who Struggle with Mental Health” and “Being Virtuous on Social Media”
For “Refugees” and “Janitors & Cleaners”
For “Birthdays” and “Going on Vacation”
For “Those Who Spiritually Wander” and “Grocers”
For “Changing a Diaper in the Middle of the Night” and “A Job Interview”
For “Grace Between Fellow Believers Across Political Lines” and “Pets”
For “Vacation Bible School” and “Waking Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed.”

The conversation with Dr. Taylor will be hosted by Dr. Collin Cornell, professor of Bible and Mission. The discussion will explore ways in which an ancient form of prayer, the “Collect,” offers a unique opportunity to shape our individual and communal lives before God in prayer. Much like the poetry of the psalms, this form of written prayer involves a dense mix of language and imagery that, at best, enables us to say exactly what needs saying to God–and perhaps also what needs saying continually to God.

The first 25 registrants will receive a free copy of the book at the event! Dr. Taylor will be available for book signings prior to the program.

Parking is free and adjacent to the Fuller Texas campus. Light refreshments will be provided.
