Tammy Lanier has been named the new Director of Communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, the Diocese announced Tuesday. Lanier who will begin June 3, 2019, succeeds Carol E. Barnwell who led the Department of Communications for over 25 years. Lanier most recently served as Director of Communications for Harris County Department of Education.
“We are so excited to have Tammy coming on board to the Diocese. She brings a wealth of experience in the field of communications and will make an excellent addition to our team,” said the Rev. Canon Christine Faulstich, Canon to Ordinary for the Diocese.
Lanier is an award-winning strategic communications professional with nearly 25 years of experience in the field. She is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana–having moved to Houston upon graduating from Southern University and A&M College in 1990. Tammy possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications-Journalism.
“I’m elated and excited to join the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. I eagerly look forward to advancing the Bishop’s communications vision for both the diocese, and the Episcopal Church in Texas,” said Lanier.
Lanier is married with two children. She and her family worship at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Houston and they reside in Fort Bend County.
