Milestone at San Romero, Houston

San Romero, Houston, became an official partner of the Houston Food Bank last year and began to distribute food in August 2024. They offer four distributions each month. Two distributions are on Saturday mornings and two held on Tuesday evenings. San Romero is the beneficiary of a special grant that funds the project allowing the congregation to distribute food to the most vulnerable, including the homebound. Recently, they received a partner benefit report covering July 1, 2023, through December 31, 2024. Although they were not partners for much of that period, San Romero still ranked in the โ€œMediumโ€ partner tier, based on their volume of distribution. In four months, San Romero distributed 149,874 pounds of food to create 124,895 meals valued at $260,781.00.

Over 40% of the congregation work in the food pantry dubbed Alimenta a Mi Pueblo. Recently, they welcomed many from the community to assist with loading and distributing food items. Members describe it as a joyful and spirit-filled time in the life of the church. San Romero is delighted to see the community join in sharing the Lordโ€™s bounty.
