Please keep the family of the Rev. Suzanne Tubbs in your prayers at this time. Suzanne died on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Suzanne had been in hospice and memory care for the last several months in the Dallas metro area. Suzanne served in the diocese, retiring from St. Francis Episcopal in Tyler.
A memorial service for Suzanne is planned for Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2pm at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Tyler. The Rt. Rev. Jeff Fisher will be preaching and presiding. Clergy and welcome to process.

The family of the Rev. Carl Shannon, Jr., who died on September 27, 2024. Carl was ordained to the priesthood in 1959, and he served faithfully for many years in the Diocese of Texas. He had a larger -than-life-presence and was active in many activities well into his retirement.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11am at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Houston with the Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle preaching and presiding.

The family of Vashti Thompson, the wife if the Rev. Edward Thompson, who died on September 25, 2024.

Jack died on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.
Jack served at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas from 1992 to 2001.
A burial service will be held at Christ Church in San Antonio on Monday, September 30, at 11:00 am, with a reception following. The Rt. Rev. David Read of the Diocese of West Texas will be the celebrant.

Dr. George Lee McGonigle died on August 28, 2024. George impacted The Episcopal Church in many ways, serving the wider Church, the Diocese of Texas, the Seminary of the Southwest, and his parish, St. David’s in Austin.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 19 at 3pm at St. David’s in Austin.

George McGonigle was a gift to the church for which I and so many others have received. His life was on of honesty, vision, and service. In my years as a young priest, George was a model for me of an ideal disciple of Jesus who loved the church and God’s mission through it. His wisdom early in my Episcopate will be treasured, as will the lunches, coffees, and moments I was able to share with him. In my life and ministry I have desired to take the very best of what I learned from George and apply it to the Diocese of Texas and my ministry outside of it. I am a grateful bishop for his life given to us by God. May his memory be a blessing and may he be missed because of love.
